Voyage Home

03 Jan 2019Holo
For the last few weeks, I had accrued a large enough stash of resources and finances to feel comfortable no matter what I did. It was time for the next big step. I went out of the human bubble, multiple jumps out with my Diamondback, and landed at Ceos. From there, I built up the trust of the Federation Unite! faction that resided there and Sothis. In doing so, I began to run missions for them, and slowly built up my ranks for the Federation.

What was my end game? Of course, the Federal Corvette. To sink any ship on sight and to ensure Slink's Eye would be safe from most harm, I had set my eyes on the pride of the Federal Navy. With good reason so.

Over the coming weeks, I experienced the beauty of Sothis, and went out to far flung distant colonies made by Sirius Corp. Time and time again, I left New Dawn, and time and time again, I returned, only to be greeted warmly every time. Ceos held some beauty on its own as well, but personally, Sothis was the true new frontier-- the glistening oceans on the planet that Don's Inheritance orbited-- there was simply no comparison. There was a war going on during this time, but it was between two small factions, and felt overall quite irrelevant-- as it were, it did present some issues.

There were a few setbacks-- namely two instances where I had been gunned down by pirates during Navy runs, so I got sent to a penal prison out in the Pleiades. Now, I've visited the Pleiades, back when I had gotten my Diamondback Explorer for the first time-- But this time 'round, it was a completely different area.

Desolate, without anyone in sight, and the stations... The stations were wrought iron and carcasses of themselves, devoid of function after the Thargoid attacks on them. These few times I had came here, I had discovered a resolve within me for something... bigger than just my system. Maybe one day, my home will be attacked by more than pirates. Maybe one day, I will see a threat that I can't fight as of right now. What will happen then? Well, that's why I've decided to take on the xeno threat. Not just for myself, but for everyone I care and love about.

And so here we are. A new end game for myself, and a desire to tackle this threat I've seen only a handful of times.

There was one station I went to that wasn't touched by Thargoids. It was called the Hudson Observatory. And-- well, it was beautiful.

Going forward from there, I was nearing the end of my journey, nearing the end of this long awaited trek for the 'Vette. Where will I go after this? What do I need to do? Am I even capable of such a vessel? These were all thoughts running through my head. The idea of even settling for the more civilian-based Anaconda came to mind, while running a Gunship near it as well. But alas, I pursued. I had a goal, and I was going to keep pushing forward.

Finally, the long awaited day came. I was given the promotion to a Rear Admiral, and given the duties and rights of having my own Federal Corvette. I was elated, but more humbled than anything else.

As I was leaving, I caught news of systems being colonized and developed around the two lone systems, Ceos and Sothis. Maybe they will be the next stage towards the future? Perhaps so, but for myself, it was time to return home, and it was time for me to rest for some time.

I went out to LHS 20 for the actual purchase, and went around the bubble cruising in the beauty, but also to fit her out and ask engineers for their opinions and help to further improve her abilities. Although I had lost my Forterra (Type 9) in the process, it was a means to the end. With the new mission before me, there was no need for the steel in the docks.

And alas, after almost five years since I had set out for this journey as a whole, I came home with the Kudounokaze. The Immovable Wind, a gale against her foes, and an overbearing, domineering vessel to obstruct pirates, Xenos, and wrong-doers that may come in her way.

Kelleam Ring-- We are home.
