So here we are again... Out here in the black

After spending years as a bounty hunter and as a recruit for the Federation, I was finally able to walk away with enough credits to support myself.

It was nice... while it lasted

As with everything else in life, sometimes circumstances get in the way and I eventually found myself at rock bottom with nothing but my ship left over.

Long story short, the brother of a bounty I took down years previously finally tracked me down. It got nasty and I had to run, leaving everything behind that I had worked (a good honest living) to build.

So here I am with a new ship ID, new home and a new career. It would have been too easy to get back into bounty hunting but in truth, the money just isn't there anymore. It's not worth the trouble as I've now discovered.

I had to find something that I could do with the ship I had, the good old deLacy Python. It's not the most comfortable ship to ferry passengers around the galaxy. The jump range isn't great in my current setup, ruling out exploring for cartography data to sell. Which just left mining...

My father used to talk about the riches he made from those ice rings. Which was funny since we grew up with almost nothing. For this reason alone, I had never even considered the prospect of mining. Like I said before though, circumstances.

I was tipped off on to a ice ring out here in Saktsak, not far from Bursch Enterprise station. A hotspot for Void Opals, the galaxies current hot commodity. So I stripped out most of the internals on the ship, replaced my weapons with mining tools and set out.

As I write this, I'm sitting here on the edge of the ring. In front of me lies a potential future where I'll be comfortable and never want for anything. But behind me, and getting closer is the darkness of lives and homes I've destroyed in the past.
