The black beckons once again...

After 3 months of exploration in Graea Hypue, I returned to the Bubble for some much-needed purchases and refitting of ships, carrier modules, and crew rotations. Can't say as I missed the Bubble...too noisy, too crowded, and yet too shallow. There's something hypnotic about being out there in unexplored territory, all by your onesie. The pulse quickens as the FSS reveals possible new life, both flora and other-than-human. Although I haven't personally found any new Guardian ruins, some of my new colleagues have, and each time is a celebration (along with the mandatory collection of new Guardian baubles and other shinies).
I am more than a little surprised, though, that this new-found love for exploration matches, even surpasses, a decent career of procuring and trading 'questionable goods'. I was able to purchase new ships, engineer them to standard, and even stock the carrier with ships and outfitting modules - all in the space of a few months. A far cry from smuggling and piracy, indeed. It's still in my blood, but I'm content to explore for now. Plus, ya never know what ye might find in the Black...
Ah, the carrier. The Elena Marie is no more. After a thorough renovation, refit, and restock, I have decided that a re-do is in order for ship and carrier alike. I have re-flagged her as the Angels' Envy, and all ships bear the name of an avenging angel from the ancient Christendom of Earth-that-was. More than one eyebrow among the crew were raised at this choice, given the life they were initially promised...but the best way to hide something precious is in plain sight, is it not?
The crew rotations are complete, with all that have had their fill of the Black given their leave and a hefty bonus to boot. The new crew are eager, although lacking experience. My deck officer, though, chose to remain and will whip them all into shape shortly. A glance at the updated management screen shows all systems in the green and ready. A quick sweep of a system or two to grab some choice materials, and then we shall be off.
