The Azura; Pleiades Sector GW-W C1-15 12 A 5.5620, -116.7365 : Dominic's Corner

04 Mar 2021Feldbibliothekar
Dominic's Corner, an abandoned settlement in the Pleiades. Unsurprisingly, this settlement has been under attack from Thargoids. The distinguishable micro-atmosphere still lingers around the perimeter, it's the same as with other from Thargoid attacked settlements. As to why this atmosphere doesn't disperse over the years, is still unclear, though it is quite a remarkable feat that could maybe help humanity in their terraforming efforts.
On second thoughts, no. Study it, sure. But keep this technology as far from terraforming as possible. We still can't figure out the composites and molecular structures the Thargoids use for their technology and vessels. Keep mankind's tendency for rush and failure away from this. There's is probably nothing as creepy as the thought of mixing Thargoid and human technology in terraforming. The possibilities where this could go wrong are endless.

This settlement is much like all the others. Covert, unassuming, nothing that strikes at first glance. There are 4 Settlement Comms Log Uplinks, which can be accessed via Data Link Scanner.

    THE MAN FROM AEGIS 1/4

   Secretary Miller [Personal Log 7BB-BCONFIDENTIAL]

Production is currently at 91 per cent. The specifications for these new weapons are unique, so it’s only natural we’d have teething problems when calibrating our machinery.

Normally head office would be sticking their oar in, but they’ve been conspicuous in their silence. Could be something to do with the fact that Aegis has given us the blueprints for the most sophisticated weaponry in the galaxy. The corporation is set to make a fortune when these prototypes go to mass production. Of course, we’re also proud to be safeguarding the galaxy from the Thargoid threat. And it helps that Aegis is paying us a fortune for the privilege.

   THE MAN FROM AEGIS 2/4

Secretary Miller [Personal Log 76C-2 CONFIDENTIAL]

Today we had the royal visit — a spot check from the man at Aegis. He walked in, black suited and slick haired. Hulking bodyguards like he was President of the Federation or something. I’m not going to lie – I was bloody intimidated. Especially since I was the one giving him the guided tour.

He introduced himself as Mr Black. I’m fairly sure that wasn’t his real name, but I wasn’t going to question it. We walked around the plant for about an hour and he didn’t say a word. I was expecting the worst, but he just thanked me for the tour, told me to keep up the good work, and left.

Keep up the good work? I’m taking that as a win!

   THE MAN FROM AEGIS 3/4

   Secretary Miller [Personal Log 760-7CONFIDENTIAL]

A warning message came in on an encrypted channel. It was Mr Black himself – I’d recognise that voice anywhere. He said the facility would be coming under attack imminently, and we had to evacuate at once. He was sparse on details, but he was pretty convincing.

I’ve told the floor supervisors to initiate evacuation protocols, but I can’t leave yet – there’s simply too much confidential material here. It has to be destroyed. I tried to contact head office for further instruction but I couldn’t get through. I hope I’m doing the right thing.

   THE MAN FROM AEGIS 4/4

   Secretary Miller [Personal Log 78C-9CONFIDENTIAL]

The attack came… but it wasn’t raiders. It was a Thargoid ship. It popped up on the scanners and set about destroying the facility. When it hit the main plant I thought it was the end, but then the Federal ships arrived. I don’t know where they came from — maybe Aegis sent them.

Thank God I managed to evacuate everyone in time — the death toll could have been catastrophic. As it stands we lost a few billion credits in machinery, but I’ll let the bean counters worry about that. I’m just glad no one was hurt.

This one is presumably quite recent and very interesting on top of that. Assuming that the logs are truthful, this facility was most likely used as a covert prototype development facility for either human Anti-Thargoid weaponry or even the Guardian weapons.
As to who this elusive Mr. Black figure is - nobody knows and although every mention and interaction in this log strikes me as highly odd, it is at the same time pretty much unimportant. At least everyone was saved in time. How this Mr. Black knew about the incoming attack, knowing that Thargoids can wake in from pretty much anywhere, is another question though.

Classify as obscure.
