Trouble at Jitabos
12 Jan 2016ROWND
After a brief post-mission rest in the little station at Halai I set off on a leisurely return trip to Jitabos in the little Eagle, jumping through as many unscanned systems as I could to honk up some extra credits. Due to a scooping mishap I stopped briefly for some repairs at Wulgaedia. I arrived in Jitabos to find alarming unfamiliar chatter on the comms - sounds of revolution or unrest. As I approached Finney Ring from below the orbital plane two system security ships began buzzing me, finally dragging me out of supercruise a few Mm short of the station for a security scan. After a tense moment they were satisfied and I was on my way again. I arrived to find Finney Ring on lockdown, but fortunately I had already decided to take a break from running missions for L.O.S.P. I put the Eagle in my storage bay and set off on another long expedition in the Cobra III. The L.O.S.P. missions made decent money, but were not generating the connections I hoped for fast enough. Hopefully Jitabos will settle down in a week or two and there will be better opportunities when I return. Back in the Cobra I made no delay in heading directly out of the bubble and up from the galactic plane about 20LY per jump, targeting preferentially OBAF stars and a few others needed to bridge the jump distances along the way. Unfortunately it seems the techs at Jitabos spilled some coffee in my ship's console, because around 2149 and 2215 I suffered a pair of general navigation system failures that necessitated a through system checkout. I finally got going again at 0400, but soon enough fatigue from the long day made me call it quits while scanning a large system of gas giants. I had only made a disappointing 230 Ly - hopefully I'll make at least 3 times that distance tomorrow. I parked the Cobra and went to sleep bathed in the soothing blue light of the luminous B star, with all those huge opals and pearls floating far above me.
