This evening was primarily spent in a wing with some old friends, and a few of their friends. One of my wingmen was still relatively new to life in the galaxy, so we helped mentor him and helped to significantly pad his bank account.Most of the evening was spent in ice rings, mining. Rumor has it that there is a Void Opal gold-rush focused around a system near the center of the bubble. I used my Diamondback Explorer to verify this is currently an ongoing price spike, and proceeded to scout several neighboring systems for likely mining sites, finding a rich system just a short jump away with multiple mining sites for Void Opals and other valuable minerals.
Our wing then moved our mining ships in, and set up a new home base there and in neighboring systems. For hours, we cracked numerous ice-asteroids in several ring sites, and jumped the booty back for the highest profits, boosting each other's profits with large trade dividends. I earned more than 37.7 million on my first such run, and another 43.4 million in my second run. We will likely remain in this area to do a few more mining runs, for as long as the rush holds out.
With our financial near-futures very secure, our wing created a new squadron, then rounded out the evening with a little joint combat practice via bounty-hunting in the local resource extraction zones. We killed several dozen pirates, and were generally quite successful.
