The Pilgrimage to the Core - Day 12

12 Sep 2015Jarsil
I skipped a few days on the diary, because I have been quite busy double checking my equipment and registering some minor issues with the ship. In the meanwhile, I covered quite a big distance, arriving into the Lagoon Nebula yesterday night.

I'm traveling a path already marked by other explorers, I can see from the garbage I find around the stars, residues of previous jumps. It doesn't matter, I still do not know this part of the galaxy, so for me is still a new discovery.

The stars inside the Nebula, viewed from distance, seemed to me like my ancestor's home, Italy. It is a very strange amass of stars:

Yesterday night, after a long exploration travel inside HD 315025 system, I found my first Neutron Star. Amazingly, it was so tiny I had to get as close as 5 Ls in order to scan it, and I still had difficulty in seeing it with my eyes from the cockpit.

I have the visual confirmation that stars are now way closer one to each other now, while I'm still relatively far from the core, the proximity is becoming more clear. It is not uncommon to see stars at less than 3LY, so close you can distinctly view them from the nearby system.

I had also a minor accident, though. I got distracted and got way too close to a tiny planet. I was lucky, the planet was really tiny and didnt' do much damage to my ship, only a few scratches due to the emergency drop. I need to be more careful when decelerating in Supercruise. Well noted.
