Its Been Awhile pt. 2

Sorry I had to cut it short yesterday. I had some passengers I needed to attend to. I take on passengers from time to time to get out there and clear my head.Anyway, where was I?
Oh yeah...
So, I headed straight for Diaguandri not knowing what to expect when I got there. I knew I needed to go somewhere though. The trip took what seemed like ages. 169LY is quite the distance after all. If I hadn't had a fuel scoop slapped on my Cobra I'd be sitting out in the black making a call to the Fuel Rats or risk floating out there forever. Maybe that would have been for the best. I don't know. Well, regardless, the trip was a success. I targeted Ray Gateway and headed out in the hopes of finding a place to rest and get my bearings straight.
When I arrived I was in awe. I had never seen such a starport. The tech they had blew me away. It's clear why I had a such sudden interest in tech after arriving here. I fancy myself a hacker of sorts these days. I'm not the best out there by no means but I have a few successful jobs under my belt. Those jobs paid for at least half the cost of this Krait I'm sitting in now.
Rambling again...damn it...
Anyway!...
When I arrived I rented a room in some cheap "hotel". I mean that's what the girl at the front desk called it but this place was a complete shit hole and I called it home for about a month. Living off what credits I had left from my last job didn't last long. I spent most of it on bribing the doctor to do this eye surgery back home. I knew I needed steady work and I knew I needed to put this all behind me for the time being.
I eventually built up the courage to go outside for more than 30 minutes and headed out to see if any of the local factions were hiring. At the time the controlling faction at Ray Gateway was The Brotherhood of the Dark Circle. Spooky name but they gave me work. Nothing big but I needed the credits. I was back to doing hauling missions. Life can be funny like that sometimes. I kept this up till I could afford a new home here in Ray Gateway and a Saud Kruger Dolphin. I still wanted to explore and see the things old Rusty talked about and being the owner of a passenger ship seemed like the best way of doing so. Once I bought my Dolphin I was working for anyone that needed shuttling. Those days were some of the best days of my life. I've seen so many amazing things and met so many amazing people. This is what life is really all about. Just letting go of the past and moving on. Things could always be worse.
Now, here in the present I own quite a fleet of ships. I've been out into the void and tagged a few planets, I do a little bounty hunting a few systems over, I still do a little hauling from time to time and I still do a little gray hat hacking to fuel that adrenaline rush I seem to need nowadays. I also work a lot for the new controlling faction EXO. I don't know much about them but they pay and I'm pretty sure I've established that is pretty much all I ask for in my work. That and don't set me up for murder. Not asking a lot really. So, things seem to be going well, right? Yeah, they were.
They really were....
At the local bar the other day this guy approached me. He looked to be a member of the local cartel. He asked me to come out back of the building and said he had information for me. I told him he must have the wrong guy, but no. He said "You're Maul Montresor right? 26, Born in LHS 3447. We know about The Corporation." I stopped and stared at him. He smiled and said I have something for you. I mean at this point I had to follow him, right? I never made any friends here. I kept to myself for the most part and here this guy is telling me about myself. So, I followed him out back and he gave me an address and a time. That was it! He just left me there.
So I arrived the next day at this shady building at the specific time I was told. Some tough burly guy came out with a firearm and grabbed me by the arm to quickly pull me inside. He tells me we are going to the 6th floor then I'm shoved in an elevator, he just stares at me the whole ride up. Not a word spoken. When we arrived the elevator attempted to "ding" but I wasn't sure if the broken "ding" sound meant we were at the right floor or if it meant my time was up. "Come on, walk!" says this burly fella. He pushes me down a hallway to an apartment and shoves me inside to see three guys sitting in a ratty apartment. "Great!" I thought "More guys with guns!" I was told to to sit and you better believe I sat down. Never have I sat down so fast in my life. After about 5 minutes of an awkward staring contest between me and the three gentlemen in the room, another guy walks in. This guy was definitely their boss. He had this energy to him. He was too happy to just be another one of these thugs. No, this guy had something about him. "Boy oh boy do I have some information for you commander!" He says with a smile, "I'm sorry, where are my manners? The name's Jimmy Heson, but you can just call me Jimmy." I just shook my head and muttered a weak "...Hello."
Jimmy sits down and tells me that I fucked them over on a job a while back. I knew what job he was talking about but I played stupid. See, these guys were running narcotics to neighboring systems and I didn't like that. So, I hacked into the manifest that listed all of the cargo leaving the station that day and exactly what ships it was leaving on. These guys were terrible at hiding what was actually in the cargo so I sneaked onto the ship that was planned to haul the narcotics and hacked the cargo scoop controls to malfunction. When this guy took off all the cargo containers fell out and smashed into the landing pad below exposing exactly what was in them. Jimmy didn't buy my act though, his tone changed to a more serious one and then he spoke a name and at this moment I knew exactly what he wanted. The name was that of the man who set all this in motion. The man who sent me to murder this innocent man, the man who made me run and leave my home. The cartel have his location and told me that he has recently retired to a new system. They want me to work for them to obtain it, either that or they kill me.
I....
I just don't know what to do. How did the cartel get all this information? All I know is if I don't help them they're going to kill me and I'm not running from this. Not this time. I'm tired of running.
I need to clear my head....
I need a glass of milk.
