Reset

Well, since the reset I've done amazingly well. I knew from when I bought the DVD version a couple of years ago and started my second profile, that things had been made considerably easier. But now, after being on R&R since Novemeber 2019, I reset to find that making money is childs play, gaining rank goes by without being noticed and things like Ram Tah have been taken down to Kindergarten level. What this actually means is that I can take my time and (hopefully...) enjoy myself. Doing stuff that is not necessarily financially advantageous is no longer an end game option. Choosing a reward with something other than financial gain in mind is something I can look at after less than a week, instead of something for a few months' time.
I also found that there are huge differences in boom system financial rewards. A long time ago the main thought was to head to boom systems to get money, whilst making ranks fairly swiftly (compared to normal play). I've never been into get-rich-quick gaming, just getting enough to be able to do the activities I enjoy is enough. And after the reset, I already had this on Day 1! I had a DBS - a ship I'd never bothered with before, always having a couple of DBX in the hangar instead - and was heading out to Meene to start Ram Tah. I also had a Viper III - just cos I like it, especially with my Union Jack paint job, to use for bounty hunting and data or element collecting and salvage missions.
Luckily, the system I had started in was in boom, so I was quickly able to afford these ships (buying using and selling a Cobra III along the way within the first 2 hours) and this enabled me to buy and fully mod the DBS. I did exchange it for a DBX and was aiming for an Asp X. Back in the day, this was a ship to aim for as a new player, when the Cobra had outlived its usefulness, and would take some time to be able to afford, with normal gameplay. Now I found myself able to afford an Anaconda on my return from Ram Tah - that's just 5 days play from starting!
Crazy.
Anyway, amazingly, this time around I was finding the do-it-all, everyone-should-have-one AspX a complete drag. Even modded to the max. I sold it the same day I had bought it, and did a bit more trading to get a Krait II and mod that. Must say, I used to really like this ship, but I'm even finding that a bit of a bore, and just using it to gain creds as a 160t hauler. Should perhaps have bought a Python instead, always liked those and can fit a good 230t inside, but I thought I'd leave it this time. That was probably a mistake.
Anyway, following a trading route tip from INARA, I left LFT 1103/Kirk Ring (my chosen first 'home') and headed out towards Imperial territory. My God, what a difference! I reckon I'm never going back! The area is in boom, and I am absolutely raking it in. Not just with missions, but also the trade routes. A single jump, with a 160t load and stations around 1,300Ls from entry and each run netting me 8 million credits. Add salvage mission at well over 1 million each and I'm going to be buying my Clipper a lot sooner than I expected - currently on Squire but expect rapid promotion to achieve Baron very soon and then should have enough to mod up the Clipper and consider heading out into the dark.
Looking forward to that, but there is no rush, even though I am staying here for the cash. After all, if I get so much more doing the same things here as I would elsewhere, then why not hang around?
