Standing at the precipice...

07 Apr 2019SamoanSpider
It seems like a strange phrase doesn’t it? Every day we step into our ships, just a few inches between us and the harshness of space. Standing at the precipice could be the job description.
Here we are though, about to step over into the black, and a strange feeling washes over me. A mixture of excitement and trepidation that isn’t usually experienced.

I feel an almost magnetic pull. To see it just once more. The galactic centre. It can’t be explained, but you have to see it. It felt like a target the first time. I just upped and left everything I knew, the safety, for the black. I didn’t look back, but I didn’t savour it either when I finally got there. This time it’ll be different. Seeing it in a different light and sharing the journey

It was once said that “Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is”.
Never more true than the journey to the centre of the galaxy but I hope to do plenty of sight seeing on the way.
I landed at this asteroid, Lemmy's Rock, knowing it would be the last civilisation I see for a while now. I think I’ll enjoy my tea and just watch people go about their business. Hold onto this as we make the journey.

I sign off knowing that the journey will start very soon. As soon as my wingman arrives, we leave it all behind.

My next log will be from the great beyond. Fly dangerous CMDRs o7
