A shakedown run

I'm pleased to say the both performed extremely well. A short hop to Mammon, to give us a way out if necessary, went off without a hitch. Gulping down fuel while examining each system for something worthwhile before jumping on. Today was only a handful of jumps. The next leg may well be 100-150 jumps though, so we had to do a trial run. A lot of the equipment seems like overkill for the first 2-3 stages but once we hit the neutron stars and start chewing up the mileage then damage is inevitable. It's times like that when we will be grateful that we have a means of hull and module repair.
Right now, I'm in orbit around Mammon 1 while my travel partner gets a dose of civilisation. I've vowed to get as far as I can without making contact. I'm not naive enough to think it will not happen at some stage but I'll get as far as I'm able!
It's pretty here. A nebula swallows part of the sky against the back drop of our ultimate destination. I think I'll have some on-board coffee and watch the stars for a bit. Thank whatever waits for us out there that I wont run out of coffee. A small mercy in an unforgiving galaxy.
Today was a test, a practice to make sure things perform as they should. The real test will begin once we jump from here. The next waypoint will be a lot longer and decided on the fly but I suspect Amundson, or for me, some ground time elsewhere in that system.
It seems like a good place to sign off. See you in the black. Fly dangerous CMDRs o7
