We're Losing - A Pilot's Account of the Battle of HIP 22460

7-22-3308
Thargoids Killed - 188

The Thargoids are pushing us out. We're outnumbered and out gunned. Just look at the numbers yourself if you don't believe me. Last week we had almost 4,000 independent pilots. This week just 600 of us remain. I fought last week. Got R&R for three days. I just returned. In that time the battle has turned but no one told me that. I was sent out to defend one of our capital ships. Only to find out that all of our bigger ships with experienced pilots have either moved on or been destroyed. Help is needed desperately.

I lost two ships in as many hours. There is heavy interceptor presence. Lighter fighter craft are no match. There are too few of us trying to fight off too many. I saw many pilots and squadrons withdraw from battle. I have no idea what the GALNET is telling people. Our seven capital ships are being stripped away of their escorts. Entire squadrons are being routed and withdrawing. It's desperate. All of our seven capital ships are dying slow deaths from 1,000 slashes. Like elephants trying to fend off millions of ants. The bugs are winning. We're being overrun at the moment. Once our capital ships are destroyed the Proteus Wave will be completely overrun and destroyed. So much effort, so many resources, so many ships and lives wasted. This is the hill humanity dies on. If humanity's forces have culminated, if we have no more will to fight and nothing else to offer then the Thargoids will win this fight. Then, the rest of the bubble will be theirs to roll up like a carpet. HIP 22460 is humanities Thermopylae, Hastings, Waterloo, Gettysburg, Stalingrad all rolled up into one. It's ugly. The bugs are winning. A lot of brave pilots have been wiped out. We are losing.

I have a scout killing fitted ship. No way outfitted to stand up to an interceptor. Most certainly not three interceptors with swarms of scouts. My battles went like this. I drop into to the conflict zone and start killing off scouts. There are perhaps four or five independent pilots assisting the security forces. Then two or three interceptors arrive with about six to ten scout escorts. The security forces are overmatched. Crippling strikes against the capital ships. The independent pilots and squadrons literally run away. When I see that happen me too. I run. Some get away, some get killed. Runners get hunted down by swarms of Thargoid. Warp cores go off line. They know what they're doing. Then its just a matter of short time. You wait for the end. Hoping for a miracle that doesn't happen. They're merciless. Just as your ship is destroyed, eject. Get scooped up by rescue services, return to base, issued a new ship. Try again. It seems hopeless at the moment.

If more help does not arrive quickly the battlecruisers and interdictors will be destroyed. Then the Thargoid's win. Hold on to your kids a little longer and a littler tighter tonight. We're losing. GALNET be damned.
