3282 - Relocated and Naturalized in the Empire
04 Jan 2022Titus A. Cromwell
Upon arrival in Cemiess the Cromwell’s were provided the best medical care available. It was the first time Victoria Cromwell spent more than a single night on a terrestrial planet. After two weeks under the care of the Imperial Diplomatic Corps they were naturalized and relocated on Cubeo 3. Cubeo Patron’s Principles provided the family with a home and employment. As customary in Imperial Society the Cromwell’s were treated with opulent generosity. The Imperial Diplomatic Corps gave them a three-year allowance, a 500 square meter home, three imperial slaves.
The continued display of opulence by Imperial Citizens was a bit overwhelming to the humble Cromwell’s. In the Federation, with all its prevalent crime and poverty, it was unwise to opulently display wealth. After several weeks of celebrity however, the novelty of this new family had worn off on their neighbors. The Cromwell’s found themselves more and more alone. While bestowed with a huge amount of hospitality the Cromwell’s definitely began to feel their lack of self-earned Dignitas within Imperial Society.
Marcus and Victory very quickly decided to completely embrace their new culture. They knew they HAD to make it in Imperial Society. The money would only last so long. Then, if they had to take on debt, they knew they would have to sell themselves into imperial slavery as was customarily required in Archenar society. They were not going to let that happen.
They worked relentlessly to conform to Imperial Society. Marcus set up a small shop on Chelomey Orbital and produced Mineral Oil while speculating on Hydrogen Fuel. He was able to quickly build wealth. In Imperial Style he began to display is newfound fortunes around his home. He made quite a public display of repaying the house and allowance that had been granted to him and his family. A quick study of Imperial Style, Marcus Tiberius Cromwell soon earned his own independent Dignitas aside what had been assigned to him by Imperial Diplomatic Corps.
His neighbors were quite impressed with the industriousness of the new family. They began to invite themselves to the Cromwell’s home and the Cromwell’s to theirs again. Social calls several times a week became common. As their neighbors became more comfortable with the Cromwell’s they asked a lot of questions about all the evils in Federation society. They were truly aghast at how unordered, vile and crime plagued Federation society was.
Then the unexpected happened.
