The family was entertaining guests that evening. They were all suppering when the news was delivered at the table. Prince Harold Duval was cowardly assassinated by the Federation, their Marlinist puppets, and NMLA animals. Knowing full well what this man had done to save his own life and restore Liberty to his family Titus sad frozen at the table. The room was silent. After several moments had passed the company quietly excused themselves and retired to the drawing room. Victoria continued as the ever gracious hostess.

The Cromwell’s followed the customary 28-day mourning period. After this time Titus seemed a changed man. He was restless at home and less diligent toward work. His wife knew the symptoms well and what was needed.

She provided him the customary farewell rituals for several nights. On the day he departed she gave him the customary departure, “Come back with this shield or upon it.”

Then she turned away from him and without looking back returned to the house with their children. Without looking upon Titus their slaves closed the doors to the villa. Titus stood alone outside.

He was free to avenge Prince Duvall’s murder.
