A Change of Plans

20 November 3307
Lyrongou AA-A h1
Empyrean Straits

We departed the DSSA Bougainville on the 18th and proceeded core ward jumping from neutron to neutron star.

On the morning of departure Ellen confided in me a communication from her “sponsors”. “It looks like some new information has come to light about the lost ships and their supper FSD drives”, she said.

In the Twentieth century US Marines had a saying that applied to a situation like this. “Semper Gumby”. It means “Always Flexible”. Please don't ask me what a Gumby is. There is so much the ancestor did not pass on in those ancient videos.

“Oh, what pray tell”, said I.

So she starts in on it, “It seems that when the drives were engaged, there could have been a miss jump caused by gravitational waves coming from near by black holes. Due to super gyroscopic precession the ships may have jumped eastward from the core. So, they want us to visit as many black holes and heavy H or F class systems as we can. Every three days we need to do that zero velocity update. While we are doing that we will be listening for extra waves that may help indicate the location of the ships”.

And that is what we have been doing for the last couple of days. Jump from neutron star to neutron star. Pause, listen, and look. Then repeat.

We really have not picked up any black holes while passing through the Arcadian Stream. Then just as we transitioned into the Empyrean Straits did we begin to see the black holes. We are finding the them around 1100 Lys above the galactic plane. We have visited a few this afternoon.

We have dropped out of super cruise for the night. Once again, on the float. Makes me want to puke.
Do you like it?
