SCG Kearsarge
It has been about a week since I started exploring and mining with the two ships I had transferred to the SCG Kearsarge from the bubble. A Python for mining and a Dolphin for short range exploration. Michael is happy with his share of my earnings and I am starting to balance the books.
Wednesday night was Taco Night in Art's High G Galley. (I'm working as the FC's cook on the side) I had a big vat of bio configured as hamburger meat. Now, this vat grown hamburger is a little on the fat side. As a matter of fact one of our vats produce enough hamburger fat to clog a Thargoid's arteries. So once I cook it up and drain the fat, I also hose the stuff down with hot water. Less fat that way. I nearly forgot to close the bypass valve at the recycling unit. You forget to do that, and everybody starts complaining about the slight urine flavor.
Anyway, after the dinner clean up, I closed down the galley for the night and got me a cup of coffee. (I gave up the Lavian Brandy again) Sitting there in the dim light of the observation window, I began to think about my recent work here in the Azura Initiative. I would take the Dolphin out and find stuff. Like a fat gas giant with a big pristine metallic ring. Bookmark it and then hope to come back with the Python to mine the heck out of it. What I needed was a one ship fits all type of machine.
Then, it dawned on me. I have an Anaconda. It is just sitting there. If I get rid of the extra fuel tank, the AFMU, the repair limpet controller, and the Auto land flight assist. I could gear up the space craft as a miner/explorer. What's more I could still keep the fighter hangar and the SRV hangar.
I took my coffee with me and went to engineering and asked the chief if I could borrow a terminal and a pare of VR glasses. A couple of hours latter I had the specs for the refit of my bird.
We worked all day Thursday and got done this afternoon. I flew straight down below the Kearsarge and worked a few systems. I found some teraformable high metal planets and then came across a nice metallic ring and mined it to death. Now that saved a lot of back and forth.
Things are looking up.
