Well S***,That Supercruise Assist nearly killed us. We managed to jump through about 40 systems yesterday. I noticed it's health was below 80%. So I powered one of my AMFUs and did a system repair. It seemed to fix everything. I thought I had powered it back up afterwards, but on the next jump, it was not ready.
Normally, I use the SCA to auto brake on system arrival so that I can attend to other tasks during the jump. I looked away just as we we're coming into a system and before I knew it, we were hurtling toward the star. I managed to pull up, but not before the ship emergency stopped out of supercruise. I had to deploy one of my heat sinks before the ship took serious damage.
I am seriously considering removing the module entirely. It provides some useful utility, but if I am to make it to the other side of the galaxy, it may be more trouble than it is worth.
Despite the near catastrophe of the supercruise system, we managed to make it to the second waypoint, Omega Sector VE-Q b5-15. The Omega Mining Operation facility is here and is providing a much needed safe harbor before we began the next leg of our journey. I turned in the discovery data for the first leg of the journey. Better to do it now, then potentially lose it. When I turned in the data at the Universal Cartographics office, I netted a nice 19M creds. The discovery bonuses from never before charted stuff greatly helped. According to the UC agent I am a little over halfway to reaching the Elite ranking in Exploration from the Pilot's Federation. I can't wait. Perhaps by the time I make it to Explorer's Anchorage, I'll have enough data to complete my rank. The Elite rank would look pretty sweet on my ship.
The next waypoint is supposedly the Conflux Delta site in Pru Aescs NC-M d7-192. Before doing that, I am going to swing over to PW2010 210 to see the PW2010 supercluster.
Reese and I are heading to the bar, after what we went through to get here, we definitely need a drink. I wonder if the miner bar has any of that fancy imperial liquor?
