Crab Nebula Expedition, Day 2.I missed the start again. The mass jump from WP1 (Merope). I need to improve my hardware soon.
Anyway, I finally managed to get on my way to Betelgeuse. I took a roundabout route to get in some extra exploration data before arriving at waypoint 2.Thanks to some helpful commanders, I managed to locate the landing site. That is when my troubles started.
I had a nice glide into the area and as I started to make my decent, I noticed I was going down fast. I put my thrusters to full but still hit the ground hard. Good job I kept my shields. Now my hull was down to 66%. Not too bad, I can live with that.
Then things started going wrong. I was out in my buggy when I had a system crash. Got back in and had to recall my ship. She seemed to make a perfect landing. But before I could get back to her, I had another system crash.
Again, I had to recall my ship, and again, she seemed to make a perfect landing. This time I managed to get back on board before there was another crash. That's when I noticed the hull integrity. 18%. Damn, the gravity on this world can play hell with your ships.
Looks like I'll have to make a quick run to MAIA for repairs tomorrow and then head off to waypoint 3. That's going to be over 2000Lys of jumping and scanning. Going to be a busy night tomorrow. I just hope I can get into orbit and make my first jump without any further damage.
Signing off for now. . . . .
