Day One. Glactic Nebula Expedition - DISASTER!

A great start to a big adventure. Late as usual to the party. But I had promised to join in a Legion mining event that coincided with the start.
Still, better late than never.
I set of this evening to the starting point. Just over a 100 Lys. I'd already planned the route and set waypoints so it was just a matter of jumping and scanning for a couple of hours.
I made it to Waypoint 0, landed and had a look around in the SRV. Not a soul to be seen. Looks like I'm off to a good start.
Anyway, time to head to the next waypoint. Only about 500 Lys. I 'up anchor' and start to have a cruise around the area and spot a canyon.
Now, I've always fancied flying around canyons at high speed, so why not. Nobody around to see me make a fool of myself.
I head in and throttle up. This is great, sweeping around corners at over 400 M/S. Enough fun, time to head off. I level out and start to put back on the stick when all of a sudden I'm scraping the canyon wall. Shields are down and sparks are flying everywhere. SHIT!
I manage to get into clean air. Everything still working (except the shields). Then I notice the hull strength. . . .31%

Shit. . . . . think. . . . think. . . .what can I do?
Two options. Head back for repairs, . . . . or. . . . . carry on and hope Jaques Station has a repair facility.
Heading back is a 2000Ly trip that I do NOT want to do. . . .
So, check the Market page and see what facilities Jaques has. According to Inara, there is a repair facility. Can I make it???? Only one way to find out. So, I'm heading to Jaques Station with 31% hull. No more canyon racing for me for a while.
Waypoint 1 - the Veil Nebula. Beautiful colours. But 245,000Ls to the meeting point???? Someone has a sense of humour.
But it was worth it. The base camp is excellent, the view spectacular. And I've also managed to meet up with old friends and new.
Though I will admit that some of these explorers are a little crazy.
It's been a long day, and I need at least a few hours sleep.
