CMRDs Log 043 28/03/3302 - A Tough Week!

It's been a tough week, but hopefully worth it.I've spent the majority of my time gaining merits in the hope I'll be able to access prismatic shields. Finally reached the required tally, just have to wait now till turn-over.
In between fortification runs, I managed to complete a few missions and do a bit of trading. I still need the credits to buy the shields.
And today, I found a good reason as to why I'm doing it.
Cubeo has a little civil war going on within its borders, so today, for the first time, I ventured into a conflict zone, just to check it out.
My first stint only lasted a short while, I managed a few kills, but didn't realise you had to join a faction to claim combat bonds. . . DOH...
On my second attempt, I did join a faction and managed a few kills which did pay out (36,000). Felt great and didn't have too much trouble as there were plenty of allies. Maybe I was pushing my luck going in again, but I did. And barely got out in one piece. Expensive repairs. And like a fool, I thought I'd give it one more go. . . . maybe I was unlucky last time.
Well, I finally understand. I was lucky the first time, since then I've come to realise that I do not have the necessary skills yet to survive in that kind of environment.
So, this week, I will be going back to school. . . . flight school. Combat training with the wing. Hopefully I'll learn something useful, like, stay away from trouble.
