Jellyfish Nebula Speedrun: Log 6

On the way back

Decided I wouldn't really hang around, so after making a postcard, I set off for home.

It's 84 jumps back to the outskirts of the Bubble (I'm going directly as opposed to back to the Pleiades).

I'm one heatsink down after accidentally firing one at the Jellyfish Nebula. Ah well, gotta celebrate somehow.

My first system on the way back was a neutron star (the first I've seen on this expedition), meaning that I got to boost back with a ~236Ly jump, and I promptly repaired my FSD in the next system.

I'm not scanning as much on my way back, but I did find cool things, e.g. an Argon-rich water world with only a minor amount of Argon in its atmosphere, a terraformable water world, and a few ammonia water worlds as well. Not to mention the occasional (at least partially) unexplored system.

This expedition has me thinking: I don't feel like I'm properly exploring. Most of the planets I scan I don't actually go near, only the ones I map. The old way of exploration would have had me doing that, but would've taken a lot longer as well.

I'm going to sort out finding Sensor Fragments for Palin once I get back. Apparently Alien Crash Sites are a good call.

Of all the things I could find out here, I found a Degraded Emissions Signal Source over 3000Ly away from the bubble. Searching the wreckage revealed a Small Survey Data Cache, which I have claimed as legitimate salvage and now have securely stored within my cargo hold. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do with it, but I'm guessing it's a tradeable commodity.

As I approached the halfway point on my return, I found a second neutron star, allowing me to jump 140Ly.

Stopping off in Plaa Thua CC-U b58-0. I've made a lot of progress (jump wise done 42/84 jumps, so 42 remain) and I'm slightly over the half-way point. Over 2600Ly are between me and the Jellyfish Nebula. Under 2300Ly to civilization.
