A Front Row Seat to the End of the World

Had to ship ol' Iathrana over from Shinrarta Dezhra, but it was actually nice to be back in the cockpit of my old bubble bus. I got a tip off that the Wave might fire off around 07:00 this morning—fitting time—but since Nicole and I both run on what's essentially Earth's Pacific time zone, it's pretty late for us. We took off around 06:00, and we've put ourselves in a holding pattern a few megs away from the Varian Scott with both the CZ area and 6c visible through our viewport. We both agreed going to 10b to watch the fireworks up close was a dangerous proposition, so we thought it might be poetic to see the results in the vicinity of the arena that almost killed us. If it doesn't go off at 07:00, we'll just go to bed. I've got two bunks set up in the sleeper compartment, and I've asked Eden—COVAS on this ship—to alert us if energy levels spike. With the power levels Salvation is touting, she should be able to detect them pretty far away, and I'll anticipate the "blast wave" will be subliminal, so we'll have a few minutes to get back to the cockpit before it reaches the Varian Scott. Regardless of the schedule, we aren't moving until the Wave comes or a Death Blossom comes to move us.
We have less than ten minutes now, so she's going to come up from the copilot's seat and watch. As we were about to take off she called it "a front row seat to the end of the world." And I think that's pretty fitting. No matter what happens, the world is going to end for someone. Let's hope it's not us.
