Home at last

After a spur of the moment expedition that started on the 28th of January and ran into some massive setbacks...I am finally home. Well, I'm not on the Morningstar, but Nicole wanted to help me with the outfitting on Meershaulk, so after a few more trips to get some mats, we decided to call it a night...I don't know where we are. Somewhere within spitting distance of Ohm City. Closest human tech broker...Willis Port in Wolf 124. That's it. I decided to opt for the pre-engineered FSD because it has Fast Boot and Increased Range, which could mean life or death going up against bugs. All the outfitting is done. I'm following the standard meta build for the AXI, which is shieldless with four Gauss, a Thermal Vent beam laser, and a Remote Release Flak Launcher. I have two hull reinforcements to engineer with Heavy/Deep, I need to put some sauce on by power plant (Armored/Thermal Spread), and I need to add Mass Manager to the FSD. I'm not going to re-engineer my sensors from long range to lightweight because I can't be arsed—as Nicole would say—and I went with three Sirius pre-engineered heatsinks, so I can afford to swap the fourth for a Shutdown Field Neutralizer or an Enhanced Xeno Scanner. Or maybe both. Other than that, standard. I think I'm going to try the shards out on Ouranos, my faithful Krait, once I get a couple standard Cyclopes under my belt. After all, I'm still very much a beginner. As you can all tell from my public balance sheet, I pulled down 800 million from the trip between cartography, organic scans, codex vouchers, and military stipend. Just like after I made my first couple billion mining vopals, I think I'm going to take a break from the exobio. But the little golden bell is a-ringing, and I'll definitely be heading out into the black. I could head to Colonia for a while and get a wealth of scans on the way, but honestly there are more important things to be doing. Lives to save, bugs to swat, and so on.
Nicole still plans to head out on the fifteenth. When she gets out of the shower I'm going to try to convince her to stay a little while longer, at least until we can get the channel up and running. I did promise her I would give her the honor of the first video, so I'll link it when that happens. But she does tend to agree that it's okay to change a plan if circumstances make it better to do so. I'm wanting another week. So we'll see.
As for my health, I'm feeling a lot better since I got back to Leuctra. I was fighting a headache for most of the day, but part of that was dehydration. Part of it was withdrawal. But by the time I finished scanning everything in Eta Leporis (which will net you 111 million credits, by the way), the headache was gone, and it hasn't really returned. I think what I need the most right now is a nice long sleep in a nice warm bed with my lovely, caring girlfriend and some lovely simulated gravity. I think I earned it.
