While Lord Dyson rests at Mammon Monitoring Facility before his big smiluator tournament tomorrow, I've taken it upon myself to do a little work. My reserves of Polonium are woefully short, but a quick search of the Pilots Federation database shows a not-too-far planet rich in the element: IC 1287 Sector EB-X c1-30 1. Only a few short light seconds from the primary, it boasts an impressive 1,100 degree Kelvin surface temperature, so I set course for the far dark side of the planet (just to be on the safe side).Initial surface scans indicated a range of deposits on the surface, and landing at the site my computer designated as geological site 13 was not difficult - at just the right spot for a gorgeous (and never ending) sunset of the massive, nearby star. Five minutes after touchdown, Polonium was found - which according to Verity was the first sample I had collected myself! Not a bad start to the day.
Clearing the site of resources didn't take long, and there was a surprising concentration of Polonium. As I was on the dark side of the tidally locked planet, I was safe from the sun here, but could could see the seemingly quiet field of smokers around me bellowing out black fumes, and I wondered if they had become more active since my arrival - perhaps it safer to leave and find a new spot to gather resources.
