Here we are.

So this is Eta Carina. The skies are more...red, obviously, but...everything else is just the same. Same star types, same scan process, everything already discovered by someone else, nothing of any real interest, no new dangers...nothing.
And some people enjoy this.
I could understand if there were dangerous sectors of space that took extra piloting skill, or unusual systems that demanded a new approach, or hell, even hostile aliens shooting at me and forcing my unarmed ship to retreat back to civilized space with a dire warning--ANYTHING.
But there's nothing here.
Why did I come all the way out here? to see red skies? To just be encouraged to "keep going, there's bound to be SOMETHING out there!"
No. I'm done. I'm never scanning another damned object again. This is a waste of time and talents alike. When the aliens show up all pissed off because we shot their barnacles, you let me know and I'll dogfight them all one by one; when security jobs open up, lemme know and I'll stop every smuggler this side of Obsidian Orbital; if actual goddamned war breaks out, I'll intercept every supply ship you want...but until then, you can have your damned "exploration" back.
I need to go shoot something...
