Back To The Black

I've missed it out here so very much. Unfortunately my studies have kept me planet bound... at Earth. I've been unable to venture out into the black to do much of... well, anything at all for the past several months. Rather fortunately though, this weekend has offered me somewhat of a reprieve from my earthbound responsibilities, so I was able to grab a shuttle to Gallileo dock and grab one of my vessels. I decided to take Elucidator out for a spin, do some good ol' fashion contract killing for the Empire. I do still want to own a Cutter one day, even if I don't have the time to routinely fly missions for them right now. There was surprisingly quite a lot of work for me. It appears that the brass don't care that I've been unable to take any of my boats out for a few months - they've got work that needs doing, and they'll pay for it if you can deliver. Suits me just fine, I'll take whatever jobs I can right now, it's been far too long since I was really able to do anything.
I fear that I'll only have two earth days to really the freedom these ships offer me before I need to return to the Sol system to return to my planetside responsibilities. It's really easy to forget just how important those things are when you can go almost anywhere in the galaxy with one of these ships but... there are so many people on so many different worlds who can't do what we do as commanders and pilots. Going back there to study really helps keep you grounded to just how important life is on each of the worlds that we cling onto and battle over.
Hopefully once I'm finished with these damned studies I'll be able to spend more time out here in space. For now, however, I'm going to enjoy what little time I have left before I return to my planetside responsibilities.
