Shield melter

04 Oct 2017Andrew Linton
Picked up a once-in-a-life bargain today; a top of the range killing machine; a fully engineered Ferdie. Can't believe I only paid seventy-five mill. The guy selling it, Kit Ausland, told me a yarn about how he came by it; true or not, he didn't know the value of what he had.

He certainly left in a hurry with my cash in his account, high-tailing it in a Python. Last I heard he was heading in the general direction of Hillary Depot.

I don't care; I've changed her name and applied a new paint-job; I'll fight anyone who says this FDL isn't mine.

Can't tell you how many hours I've saved not having to engineer this beauty. She's so sweetly balanced; whoever owned her before Ausland knew what he was doing. I'm saying 'he' on account of the stubble hair in the john.

Not that I'm scared of the work to grind for myself; just, I'm not getting any younger and, anyway, I've done my share for the galaxy. I was in the top 5% hauling scrap to Hutton for some fancy mugs.

And I was in the top ten commanders helping set up the Lave Interstellar Radio station.

Reckon I've paid my dues and it's time to slow down; relax a little.

I took Freelance out to a high RES and picked up five mill without breaking a sweat, and that was before I discovered the fancy controls on the throttle that help turning in a dog-fight. The efficient 4A beam melts a shield like the desert sun melts ice, and when I open up the four modded multicannons, well it's a firework display like you wouldn't believe.

So, here's notice to anyone with a 'WANTED Dead or Alive' listing in any Authority Contact office, don't just watch your six; watch your zero to twelve.
