Cmdr Onkeldata personal log: Underestimated activities and failures
30 May 2019Onkeldata
I am a man of irrational decisions, and peculiar tastes. I fell in love with the Chieftain when I saw the announcement the first time, and still am. Little did I know, she had a cousin that would fit my style so much more. The Challenger! What a fun ship. I enjoy flying and fighting in it very much. My trusty Krait is still my favorite, speed does count for something, but, yeah, I disgress...So, I decided I would do a Grand Tour of Engineering with the Disperser. I aim to visit every engineer I know of, and upgrade whatever speciality they offer. Before I did engineering mostly by accident, this time I try to really dig in. And so I learned about the wondrous world of planetary ressource gathering. I never knew it could be fun.
I mean, I fly in the black, jump to stars and mine asteroids, shoot pirates and trade in the millions, and then I sit into my scrappy vehicle, follow the worst scanner ever to shoot at rocks for minimal rewards?! I do. I like it. And it is not only measly minerals you find. Can you imagine, how nervous I was starting my first fight with skimmers? I had no idea how powerful they might be. And then, having killed the bunch of them, raided their hulks and gathered the legal salvage, my trusty Disperser comes to pick me up. I get a warning, when trying to board.
Note to self: If putting an planetary vehicle bay in your Fighter, don't forget to add a Cargo Bay. Or else your hard fought for Salvage will be forfeit, and you will feel really, really stupid.
Still, the manganese will come in handy now.
End of Entry.
