Galactic Wanderers Expedition: Captains Log: Day # 1 After several months of preparations we are finally here. CRV Gargantua is receiving its last load of Tritium and all stock is accounted for. Carrier crew are finalizing departure arrangements and have started reporting back 'green light' on all parts of the carrier. Expedition crew (Galactic Wanderers) are also finalizing their arrangements with many wrapping up the final transferring of their ships and their materials to the fleet carriers.
We are doing a round trip expedition to Colonia and Sag A with three Fleet Carriers the CRV Gargantua; The TFCS Garbthar's Hammer; and the TFS Soylent Green to explore the sites and experience the black. Along the way we will be visiting the much talked about Colonia engineers to get some engineering done as well.
The energy aboard the CRV Gargantua is pulpable. You can feel everyone's excitement as the final checks have started to be performed. Being a Cannon Research Vessel the Gargantua is a science vessel at its heart. Although this is not a scientific expedition there are certainly plans to perform some light research along the way while exploring is being done.
On a personal level the trip is not new to me. I flew this many years ago prior to becoming the commander of a fleet carrier. I am feeling a true sense of pride being able to now take others on the journey. Looking out of the Fleet Carriers bridge windows to the bright INTI sun I find myself lost on thought over what awaits us in the black. There is a definite sense of concern over the Thargoids and the other anomalies that have been occurring in the bubble leading up to our departure.
The Thargoids have starting attacking various systems again, namely with the movement of the Guardian Relics which are now being transferred planet side. There is this new 'Salvation' character who has appeared and is randomly transmitting information to pilots leading them to clues on new ship and settlement where abouts. And we are still not clear to what end. Who knows what will happen while we are gone for the next 2 months. In a way it will be good to be away from it all. But there is the obvious concern that we might run into something while we are out there...
