31. March 3306 - Personal Mission Continuation

// LOG ENTRY I //

To my great regret, I had to realise at the very beginning of my career that the Empire, unlike the Alliance or the Federation, does not possess ships exclusively designed for war purposes; this surprised me at first, considering that the agonal-territorial neighbour has ships which are exclusively predestined for battle; however, this also suggests philosophiam elatam, and demonstrates impressively the moral superiority of the Empire compared to the Federation.

Nonetheless, my obligation as a member of the First Imperial Fleet is to protect the Empire — explicitly Vaka — and its inhabitants against foreign powers and their degrading intentions by all means in order to ensure a safe, affable and respectful coexistence without the citizens of the Empire having to live in fear for their freedom or the integrity of the society for whose establishment and preservation had so long and hard been fought for. This is why I rapidly realised that a ship, which could serve this purpose superbly, was required urgently. I first referred to the Alliance, whose ships — like those of the Federation — are explicitly designed for combat; I was quite pleased by the result of the purchase, the Alliance Chieftain fulfilled its application excellently, and was able to emerge victorious from almost every battle. However, my initial euphoria was quickly halted, despite the formidable persistence of the hull, the excellent turning characteristics and the impressive firepower, the fragility of the cockpit — a typical flaw in Lakon designs — forced me to install an improved life-support system in order to be able to end the fight in spite of the loss of my HUD and return to the nearest station. Since maintaining the shields of Alliance ships is rather difficult, I was compelled to contemplate more severe measures, which also included substituting the ship. After sufficient reflection, and evaluation, I decided to utilise the enemy’s means against the enemy itself: I intended to acquire a Federal Corvette. This is not an easy objective per se, mainly because one has to become a Rear Admiral, the third highest authority of the Federal Navy, to be able to purchase a Federal Corvette. Thus, I decided, for the good of the Empire — and under the veil of a false identity — to travel deep into enemy territory to commence my mission. Crossing the Federal border was quite simple, and I soon arrived in “Ceos”, a remote system which forms an intriguing symbiosis with its neighbouring system “Sothis”. During this time, I became aware of corruption prevalent in the Federation, and recognised its corrupt character. What is called honour in the Empire, is considered weakness in the Federation.

At the beginning of my ascent, I had been given rather simple assignments, which included the transfer of more or less important data from one system to the other, et vice versa, however, after multiple promotions, I had been given assignments of higher priority until I finally held the absolute trust of the local government and the Federal Navy, and was appointed Rear Admiral after years in enemy territory. The renumeration I received in the course of my service was more than sufficient, thus, I was able to fulfil the very objective for which I had come to this system shortly after my inauguration. Unfortunately, the Federal Corvette is not sold at any station or base, so I had to look elsewhere for my first Federal Command, as a result of this search, I had — after all the time I spent there — to leave “Ceos” and “Sothis”. After a short inquiry, the location of a nearby system, in which Federal Corvettes are being sold, had been revealed to me. In the meantime, I had become a highly respected member of the Federal Navy, which solved any complications related to interstellar travel. Shortly after my arrival in the designated system “IX”, I was warmly welcomed at the nearest station. Past a short time, I became the commander of the strongest Federal ship which can be operated by a single person.

Since my inauguration, and the subsequent receipt of my Federal Corvette, many months have passed in which I had dedicated myself to its equipment. Despite my unconditional loyalty to the Empire, and my contempt for the Federal modus vivendi, I have managed to integrate myself quite well into their corrupt system without raising suspicion. Ironically, the Federation, my most detested enemy, is assisting me in complementing the modules of my Federal Corvette — a matter in which I have been quite successful as of yet —, there is but one detail I need to address: The hull — despite its already high integrity — is still quite fragile, and urgently requires supplemental armour in order to withstand enemy fire without the protective influence of the shields. Therefore, I will continue to abuse the naïve trust of the Federation until I can afford the last, and most expensive, module which enables me to finally return to Imperial space, and to have a ship at my disposal with which the defence of the designated system should not be a problem any more.
