The ashes of a station

I couldn't quite believe the devestation when I first saw it, the flames within and on Oluwafemi Terminal, it was a mess, after seeing it all I longed for the pristine, shiny hangars of other starports. I knew the station was damaged and they were requesting help getting people off the station, but I never quite realised what they meant by 'damaged' until I saw it.I'd never seen a station so devoid of life, the hustle and bustle of other starports being a common occurence, the vibe of the station felt hollow, the sounds I'm accustomed to silenced, the rhythm of ships flowing through the airlock disrupted. This felt more like a floating space tomb than a starport.
Despite the numerous explosions and the wreckage, I managed to land and practically pushed people aboard to get them off the station quickly, mashing my controls to launch as the stifling heat was brought to bear on my ship. Once out, I immediately set a course for the rescue ship, docking without any thought, my thoughts only returning to me once the refugees were safely aboard.
From this day forward, I will not take the looks of even the dirtiest Industrial station for granted again.
