Where are all the Investment Opportunities?

I don’t think this end of the spiral arm understands how finance works. I’ve been talking to a number of Commanders, and they all say re-invent your money into other ship to enable one to undertake more work. Well, that’s just balmy I say.
I spent the entirety of yesterday doing this here work the ship owning community seems to think is the way forward, and I made enough scratch to think about some tiny investments. I had a little over 15.000.000 and I was thinking I could pop five of that into some operation or other, but none of the swines out here would even entertain the notion. I got a few offers from ambitious lads and lasses about Newholme station, but I think they were just after leeching a bit of wedge from a fool that knows no better. Well, I’m no fool thank you so very much.

You see this is how it goes. You have money. You let other people that like that sort of thing, use your money to make more money and they give that to you and keep a bit for them self. All very fair and equitable, everyone comes off rosie. All  I, as the investor has to do, is turn up for the odd meeting and have dinner and what not brought for my effort. When all is going well, meetings lead to parties and a chap is introduced to other industrious sorts that would also like to make a fellow some cash in the same way. The very notion of one’s self actually having to do the work is never even alluded to. The hardest parts of the whole affair are getting a sound investment opportunity to start with and living within one's means while one builds a stable portfolio.

However, when in Rome ay? I see what the working Commanders are saying about the bigger ship, so I had a little dekko at what was up for grabs in my price range. Some ex-military type told me he loved his old Federal Dropship. As I’ve been getting to know a few of the Federal Navy’s White Hats, I’ve managed to land myself a rank, Honorary Cadet or some such. All very nice and informal but I have no idea what it’s all about. I went to see his boat and I must say it looked like it was designed by a child that had some spare wings he wasn’t using on a good looking ship.

I kept my opinion to myself and said it just wasn’t my style of thing. The only other thing close to my spending power was a Type-7 Transporter. Oh dear me no. It looks like someone glued a cockpit to an abandoned warehouse. Does anyone actually fly that thing? The universe is slightly dimmer just for such a monstrosity existing. Anyone that uses it should feel ashamed of the damage they are doing to the aesthetics of existence.

Still, in need of improved contract options, I sauntered off to Viridian Orbital in some no-name system and got myself an Asp Explorer. Many Commanders say the Asp is the natural successor for a Cobra pilot and I’m not one to buck the trend currently. Once I’m back where I belong, I’ll be bucking all night long. The Asp is nothing to get excited about. It’s a ship that looks like it’s up for the job no matter what that job may be.

As it was quite late when I got back to the Sothis – Ceos area, I decided to rough it for the night and sleep on Your Wife. That’s what I’ve named the Asp. Just as I suspected, Your Wife may be new, but it’s not as nice as it could be. Still, I press on even though it’s not easy being Creamy.
