One is so glad one listened to Wiggy. Ninette and I planned out the flight path and estimated a time frame to complete it and return to The Disc. Using that information, I generously stocked for the journey, and Wiggy told me to take four times as much.
Here I am at what I imagined would be the halfway point time-wise, and the Ass isn’t even close to the nebula where I will make my U-turn. If it wasn’t for Wiggy’s sound advice, I’d be looking at the discrete indicator-light on the Waste to Paste unit, dreading the second coming of my rations.
If any of you ladies or gentlemen are considering an old-school carrier-free exploration trip, do talk with someone that has done it. There is so much one would not have even considered, that I would deeply regret at this point.
I have almost one G to keep me in bed tonight, so for now..
Goodnight log.

After two weeks out here, I saw no particularly noteworthy stars. I saw some big stars that dwarfed most, but nothing with spots or so cold it has bands. Today, in as many jumps, I found two Neutron stars, one that will now have my name on it. I was a little surprised to see I had crossed paths with another explorer, but I suppose I'm not that far outside the bubble. Ninette estimates it would take less than one day for us to return home.
As it's the last day of the weekend, I was hunting for a Sangria Sky for tonights' end of week treat. I didn't have much reason to land on bodies with higher than human normal gravity, so one has not earned much outside of my normal diet. On my hunt for tonights' 'feet up for the evening' landing spot, I found these impressive chaps.
They are called electro.. .. whats-a-m'jiggs. You know, all throughout my life, I've enjoyed the fruits of other people's labours. If I needed to know something, I simply had to look it up, or ask someone. Out here, I can't even ask Ninette because all she has access to is what's in her data banks. As Ninette is programmed to babysit me, she only really stores info that was pertinent to my next destination. This trip is encouraging me to look a little deeper into the boundaries of my curiosity.
I did manage to find my Sangria Sky, but I won't be enjoying much outside my normal evening meal. With the dietary restrictions I have put on myself, I have to work quite hard to earn enough good-boy-points to be rewarded with but a dram of alcohol.
Still, I managed it and I'm sitting here under this sky enjoying my evening off. As I will be somewhat drunk a little later, I will say..
Good night log.

What a day for discoveries it has been. Plenty more of the usual, or what I call the usual now, and enough new scanner returns to keep me busy all day. The morning started with another ... A.D. I think it was, Neutron star. It looked very much like the ones I pictured before, so I just put the snaps in the IES log. On the very next jump, I saw a return that was new to me; an anomaly in space it's self. I've been told about these things and seen the images, but I wasn't ready for the size of them in person.
If you look carefully between the two giant crystalline objects, you can see the Ass. Unfortunately, this image isn't very well lit and you can't see the colour of the green one behind. I got as close as I dare and scanned each one before moving off to another scanner return with same frequency. Again I found the same crystal objects, but this time some were orange.
That wasn't it for the surprises today; soon after I decided to investigate a little two-probe ice-moon with a few geo and bio returns. As I was landing, I found what I imagined to be some cracks in the surface caused by some sort of plant. I damn near kicked the consol when mighty jets sprung up around the Ass. As luck would have it, I was between them, and no harm was done to the ship. I managed to capturer this image after waiting for the geysers to spout once more.
This little moon was bountiful for the discovery log. After collecting common Bacterium and Stratum samples, I happened upon another delightful specimen that enjoys the warmth of a thermal vent.
It seems crossing into the .. .Norma Expance I think it was? Well, where ever I am now it's been good for exploration, but I am still to come across anything to even give me a clue as to where to start looking for my uncle. Tomorrow I will be dropping into another one of Uncles' waypoints; I hope I am as fortunate with a trail as I have been with worthwhile discoveries today.
Tonights bedding down body is a nice, cool two point five G high metal. Thanks to the Altairian Skin, I've saved plenty of water so I'll be taking a nice long, hot shower tonight before settling in. That means I'll be multicoloured for a few days while the Altairian culture maturers, but it's not like I'm invited to any highbrow dinner parties for the next few days.
As I'll be going to bed after taking care of my beauty regime, I'll say..
Good night log.
