Exploration Log Final : Dock'n'shock

When I passed through the slot, I could feel relief wash over me as my body crossed the atmospheric shield. Landing this Ass on a pad for a change made putting her down an easy task.. .. I almost ruined because I’m accustomed to looking for a spot on rough ground, leading to the ‘trying to land tango’ now. Having the touchdown holo appear confused me.

Yes, this means I am back in the bubble, safe and sound. With the glow of security one feels with thousands of tons of spinning steel around you, and the knowledge that crowds of people were but one lift right away, I got a little excited. I was supposed to meet Wiggy, but I strode straight to a salon, then a hotel and got myself a room with a bath. I ordered some new clothes while I was filling the tub, and gave the staff orders to pick them up and have them on the bed by the time I finished soaking.

After a night of what my mother would call ‘shameful conduct’ I granted myself a few hours recovery period, and avoided the gym. Come early afternoon, I met up with Wiggy and sorted out the data that was promised to the old buster for decking out the Ass and funding my expedition.

Wiggy wanted a picture of the Ass and I, now we had returned to keep for his records. I nipped back down to the docks to sort that out while he registered the cartography data. Because the Ass is not my ship (Thank the higher power) Suzi would get the credit for everything I scanned with her vessel unless Wiggy sorted that out with the bloody Pilots Federation.

I know it is bad form to talk of money but personally, quite a lot hinges on what resources one can call upon. I have been, in one respect, working solid for over a month, so I had my fingers crossed. Even with the generous percentage Wiggy took for sorting everything out both before I left, and after my return, I can say confidently; I now have resources.

I’ll be buying myself a couple of ships and replacing the one Suzi lent me with a new Asp equipped as received, in perfect condition. It’s only fair after I put about sixty-five thousand light years on the Asp she lent me. Also, that will let me rename the EOM Assistance 5 to something more fitting once I tool up it for salvaging my Conda.

I was still to visit the.. .plant people to register all the bio data I gathered while I was out there. Wiggy took me along, but as that information was stored in the suit he suggested I buy, he didn’t have to do any jiggery-pokery, I just handed everything over and further padded my account after Wiggy took his due. Now, even with my expensive taste for interior design with my new ships, I won't spend even half of the bounty exploration has gifted me.

Now I have to make some wise choices, starting with how to approach this meeting with that chap in.. .some system or other, at a certain place on a Friday evening.. . .I think. Ninette has the details. If he’s being honest with me, and he can clear my name, then he is my starting block.

I had one final surprise waiting for me from the plant people. Apparently, I had earned a reward from their organisation in the form of a very nice sciencing suit in metallic blue and white. As they are the colours of my home, I gratefully accepted the mark of achievement. With a visit to a cunning artisan, I can have my preferred pressure suit recrafted from this gracious reward before I go looking for some tough nuts to assist me with the upcoming meeting.

What to say now? I've been talking to this thing every day for quite some time, and this is the last time I need to do so. I suppose, Goodbye Log, and thank you is a little sentimental, but appropriate.

Goodbye Log, and thank you
