Crew Member Diary #2
14 Jul 2019Bhikku
(From the journal of Macy Juarez.)What a week it's been! We've fought and driven off enough pirates to make them think twice when they see us coming. Commander Bhikku even trusted me to let me fly one of the main ships. Not the Asmodeus, not yet anyways, but I've been helming support and practice missions on the Umber Hulk, a Keelback set up as a firing platform. On these, the commander has been flying the fighter. Seeing her in action was a good reminder how much I still have to learn.
Bhikku and I have been discussing our tactics, and decided to focus on the Gu-97 fighters for now. Their maneuverability more than makes up for their weaker shields and hull. I think we will ditch the other fighter for now. Except, one ship in the fleet actually has a Condor in the fighter bay, and I've even flown that once or twice. A surprising fighter for a ship flying under the Imperial banner. I asked Bhikku about this, and she said she both likes to keep her mind open, and prefers to have intimate knowledge of the Federations arsenal. Just in case.
My first week hasn't been perpetual combat, however. A couple of days ago the commander got promoted to Marquis, and though they was no actual ceremony, we made our own little celebratory trip to the Pleiades. Well, I think there was some kind of official meeting where a Senator gave her the formal paperwork and a stiff salute. Maybe, but I don't know. Whatever the case, Bhikku decided we needed a break, and so we set out looking for a spectacular site, a black hole. The one we found was near the Pleiades, and though we sew several Thargoid signals from a distance, we never actually saw nothing more than a lonely Thardoid sensor in the deep space. The black hole was awe-inspiring, and it was fascinating to see up close how the gravitational lensing warped the nebulae behind it. We had some Lavian Brandy and enjoyed the sights for some time before moving on. The commander told me that she'd decided to give me another raise, as my combat skills are now of more use. It was fun to just relax in space and have some downtime with the commander.
Speaking of the commander, she coloured her hair blue, of all things. This surprised me a little, as I kinda thought Bhikku to be a little... well, not stuck up, but not one to embrace change like that. The colouring itself is not that surprising; it's not like silver is her natural hair colour. Bright blue, though? To each their own, I guess.
That brings us to another subject. Now that I'm up to speed, the commander is rotating between Opal and me. Currently the commander is flying with Opal, but I don't know the mission they're on. I have at least a full day off, so I'm going to see what kind trouble I can get into. This is Macy Juarez, fighter crew for Marquis Bhikku, signing off.
