Looking up at Barnard's Loop from the side

So, finally this one departed Arexe on January 23rd and begun his first leg flight of the expedition. The distance to Waypoint #2 - Flyua Dryoae DG-M D8-3 - was 2,466.22Ly, which could be reacheable with 37 jumps on his ship. Less than 100 jumps just felt a piece of cake for him honestly listening to Radio Sidewinder in the cockpit, thus he was at #2 already before he knew it. No supercharge jumps were needed. He just took his time.

The size of Barnard's Loop got smaller and smaller as he flew out of the Bubble heading to the east and by the time he was getting close to Waypoint #2 only the side of the Loop was barely flickering far in the black.

On the leg toward #2 this one did not get off the shortest jump route very much but did work on scanning of every system he arrived in. He did not come across white dwarfs nor neutron stars; only standard common stars welcomed him one after the other. He did not run into many Water Worlds nor Earth-Like Worlds either. It really seemed to him that the density of certain types of planets varied depending on where in the galaxy you were. What barely pulled his attention during the first leg was an Earth-Like World between two Water Worlds, only.

Upon arrival at #2 he worked on scouting of neighbourhood Flyua Dryoae region for a while. There was this system holding 50+ planets, satellites and stars in DM-K D9-31 system. Many of the orbiting planets and stars (including brown dwarves) had rings which seemed to be a little uncommon.

This one chose a small high metal content world with low gravity orbiting right next to the system main white-yellow star as his camping site and landed on the brighter side of it safely.

He never expected he would encounter those skimmer sentries in the system this far from the civilization part of the galaxy. But there they were, guarding a certain parcel of the ground where a seemingly wreckage of a ship was, half buried in the ground sand.

The skimmer sentries were vulnerable, same as the ones in the Bubble, enough to be shot down by SRV turrets. This one entered the protected area after confirming the safety of his vehicle. There, in the shadow of the broken ship hull he found an escape pod. Confirmed the pod was not vacant but occupied.

He recalled he ran into an escape pod in the last chapter of the Outer Arm expedition he participated more than a year ago in 3306 and took it back to the Bubble. This time he came across an escape pod in the very first chapter of the expedition. It would need an extra care to carry as he flies with no fleet carriers, but he thought it would not hurt at all to have an expedition company. A quiet company, which was appropriate to spend extremely long time together, day and night in a small ship.
