"Jump completed, resume normal operations, complete post jump check list and have all stations report in" Bailey the Captain of my carrier, the "Archangel" says to her bridge crew as we exit the hyperspace portal. We had been sitting out in the Col 285 sector for a couple of weeks now. I have been going out and mining low temp diamonds in my dedicated python and have loaded quite a few tons of refined diamonds into the ships hold. My trips have been short, I have learned a new mining technique called subsurface displacement. This technique is far more productive than motherload mining and I fill my hold quickly, then return one system away to my carrier and offload, and refit my ship.
I have taken days off from mining and spent time working in each division of the carrier. This way I learn about what goes on as well as get to know my crew even better. Still in the short time we have been here, I have put a lot of tonnage onboard.
So tonight we jumped near a system that was buying low temps for the highest price around. I loaded up the "Atlas II" my type 9 rigged for maximum cargo and set off for the stations. It took 4 runs to empty my cargo hold, but just over 4 billion credits later. I was ready to get back at it.
But not before a plan to make mining even better. So we jumped to the closest system I could get to near Jameson Memorial and took a quick hop in my eagle over to the station to get my new mining ship. Over the past few days I have come to realize that the python although a great mining ship in every respect, just doesn't have the cargo capacity for what I am able to mine here. So after some detailed research, I decided on a mining version of the Federal Corvette. I put the build together and transmitted the plans to Jean to look over. Once she approved them, she sent them to Core Dynamics sales and had the ship outfitted and set for pickup at Jameson Memorial.
I arrive and make my way to the sales office for Core Dynamics. I sign the papers and transfer the credits, and off to the hangar to pick up my new vette.
I jump the ship one system away and dock on the Archangel. Once in my hangar my crew goes to work putting the last modules into the ship as I had several in stock already and didn't need to buy them so I saved myself a few million.
while that is going on, I head to my quarters and let the Captain know that we can head back to the Col 285 sector. I grab a quick bite and make my way to the Irish pub at the very front end of the ship to watch the jump through the windows of the pub.
The jump sequence starts, and from the very front of the ship, the lightning generated by the hyperspace portal is amazing, especially sitting with crew and guests and having a couple of pints.
Tomorrow I will take the new vette out for a shakedown mining run. I will see how the big ship maneuvers around the even bigger rocks and how she load up the minerals I will be gathering. In the meantime, I had a couple of department heads cycle out and take contracts on some of the Deep Space Support Array carriers that are departing the bubble. We wished the well and then had a command meeting where I let everyone know that I have funded the carrier for the next two years and that we are going to go exploring at a point in the future, so if they didn't want to go on an extended trip, they can plan to rotate to another carrier.
For now we will continue to fill our hold with diamonds and grow the accounts of the ship and it's owner. Then off to the next adventure.
