SAGA OF A AZIMUTH BIOTECH WORKER

Collaboration with CMDR Miserichorde

Thank you for this chance to speak about all the events that have gone on in recent months Senator, it truly is an honor.

So I obviously don't have to tell you, things didn't go as planned or at least how Dr. Wycherly assumed they would. I should probably be frank from the outset here and state that things went about as close to my prediction as one could have guessed without knowing the future. That is to say I kind of had a feeling these events would go badly for everyone, just how badly I think even I underestimated but I digress let us start at where I stepped into this convoluted mess.

Prelude:

I had not been awake long when the announcement came about Taurus Mining Ventures coming out as the remnants of Azimuth Biotech but I will be honest, I don't know how you all didn't realize it, I figured it out in the few days I had been out of cryo sleep while catching up on the last 5 years of Galnet news and spending my time hopping around the Harma region organizing logistics for the Kumo Crew.

I had actually already sent along a formal indication of my interests working for the company when everyone found out, and the ‘Wych Hunters’ started their little riot. Honestly I didn't have any real dislike for them, I mean I didn't have a dog in this fight at that time, Until they made me late for my interview... I have a bit of an issue with holding grudges you know.

When I first arrived I was not intending to step into the role of heading up the entire Proteus Wave Projects logistics but apparently given the outrage from OWH they found themselves lacking in pilots who were willing to "rep" the company as it were. I mean sure they had a myriad of pilots willing to haul guardian artefacts and other cargo for the project but not ones who were willing to act as a bridge between independent pilots and the company and well, I didn't have any reason not to take the offer did I.

I mean I really wanted those paint jobs.

THE PROTEUS WAVE PROJECT:

During the first few weeks leading up to the events in HIP 22460, the company was pretty abuzz, it felt like the entire company was excited but there was certainly an underlying air of tension. Nobody really knew what to expect but there was a major feeling that everyone in the company was focused on completing the device and pushing the Thargoids out of human space forever. I think some of them felt it was a calling what Caleb and the company were doing, and they showed it with the same kind of divine fervor you will likely see in the ‘Far God cultists’ now. During these early stages I was back and forth a lot, mostly hopping to the Vela Dark region for artefacts in between making trips to Maia to help reinforce faction control there, and that's when I noticed things didn't seem quite right.

OWH was absolutely decimating the companies holdings all over and for the most part there was absolutely no response from Dr. Wycherly or the company board, just a narrow tunnel vision focused on finishing the project. Now at first that made sense, I could understand this project was important, but when they almost lost Hind Mine and only held onto it through the use of massive amounts of what I can only call a slush fund it started to become a real apparent problem.

And that problem was that Caleb Wycherly and the heads of the company DIDN'T care what happened when this was over, as if the company had become disposable- and I think that sentiment was making its way around the company during those last days, I think a lot of folks were starting to question if they would have jobs left to go back to when this was over, success or failure notwithstanding.

You know I met Caleb , just once in person, during those final weeks I had finally been invited to start sitting in on the staff all hands meetings, guess I was one of the few folks they had left they felt they could rely on, I think they were a bit surprised that I had not just ended my contract once all the cargo hauling was over, who knows maybe I impressed someone. But on the last day, before the launch, I got to meet him. I think maybe I should have done OWH a favor and taken matters into my own hands but well I doubt that really would have stopped them from pressing that button would it?

He's a very old man but I can tell my own kind , he's a grudge holder like me, maybe even worse, if he's been this bent out of shape about his face getting scarred for over a hundred years the man could teach me about being petty.

That night I trusted my instincts, everyone was partying, Bright Sentinel, Heart of Taurus, I even heard folks had made camp at the old fort ash, but not me, no something I had asked in one of those meetings made me uneasy about all of this. So I parked my ship on the old rusted hull of the Overlook and waited...

I asked how Dr Wycherly and his team had dealt with the well known issue of the incompatibility between Guardian and Thargoid technology, to which I was just sort of stared at blankly and given a rather curt statement to the effect of , and I paraphrase " But of course they have worked out how to deal with that sort of thing, they are such brilliant minds that we couldn't possibly comprehend the science behind it right now"

Yea , fuck that, Im not stupid thats about as direct an answer as We dont know dont ask questions as you can get, and I was damn certain something wasnt going to go as planned as I sat against the overlook and watched it all go down, I hate being right all the damn time you know.

Sure enough, blue goes green and everything in the system goes offline for a minute, this is probably a good time to mention I don't use Guardian technology, I don't trust it myself, and that night boy I was glad to have a fully Guardian free ship. I don't think I need to give you details , hell you were probably there you know what went down, Thargoids everywhere , Pissed off to high hell and back again. I didn't stick around long because by the time I got systems back online I was already under fire. I hopped out to the Musashi and back in again to check on the megaships, Taurus, Sentinel, All gone, even the Allied AX fleets wiped out. I knew things might not work out but damn, We really screwed up didn't we...

AZIMUTH BIOTECH CURRENT NEWS:

previously

I returned to T Tauri almost immediately after that to find it basically in shambles, Hind Co-OP had pretty much taken over the entire system (I suspect with much assistance from members of OWH no doubt)

Since then I've spent the last week patching things up with no response from any one higher up on the command line, I'm not even sure IF there is anyone in charge of the company anymore. No one is certain that Dr Wycherly is alive or dead. But we did push back and we won't have the civil war that was going on there this week. I'm not sure what's going to happen in the future.

Sirius has been flooding the area with influence and Li Yong Rui supporters have been very active in their efforts to sway the system to their side, Hell at this point a merger might not be the worst option for the remaining employees,

OWH still has some eyes and ears in the area as well, no doubt just waiting for a reason to attack again.

But I was hired on and my contract is still with Azimuth Biotech so until that time is up or the company collapses or is bought out then I will just keep working towards keeping it running even if it's just so the ones who still have jobs here can keep working for now.

I think I've probably chewed your ear off enough for now, I am happy to elaborate further if you need more info or just wish to keep in touch about how things are proceeding with the fallout from this whole debacle.

It has been a pleasure, sincerely
