I achieved the Federation rank for corvette while simultaneously filling up Exquisite Focus Crystals, Biotech Conductors and Modified Embedded Firmware. The key for effective grind was the system Ross 1057. It had 5 faction in investment/boom state and agriculture station close to the star, 4 of them Federation.Cca 20% of the experience I got from Water Mining missions. Water can be bought at agriculture stations. So I just bought the water locally and mission was finished. For wing missions, it was cca 900 tons, 2 cargo spaces of my cutter. Anyway, REP++++ mission completed by few clicks. The limit was the supply of water on the market.
Most of the reputation I got from "fetch" missions. They were all for goods from hi-tech stations. Log into the game once or twice, accept all such missions and do nothing until all cargo space will be utilized, cca 10-15 missions. Only then fly for the goods. Usually, one gets a mission or two in the opposite direction as well. It pays to know all the hi-tech stations around - LHS 215 [Spring Gateway], LFT 880 [Baker Settlement], PI-FANG [Napier Settlement], others. But the main income is from fetching to the booming station.
The flight back is a tricky one. The fetch mission sometimes update with pirates interdicting you back at Ross 1057. There were 1-4 consecutive interdiction every flight back. I have always evaded them successfully. Of course in the cutter, it would be easy to win the fight with the pirate, but it would be time consuming. Evading interdiction, the round trip takes 10-15 minutes, most of what takes the reading of the mission board.
Booming station also has "fetch" missions for minerals. Some of these minerals can be bought at extraction-economy stations. I didn't do them. Usually I had enough of industrial stations missions, so I in fact I have never memorized the stations and minerals for sale. But it would be effective as well.
