Thargoids. Friend or Foe?

So this is something that has been bothering me and with the upcoming interview with Nova Imperium, my thoughts on the xeno matter seem to be confused. Who is REALLY to blame for the on-going war ( if you can call it that) with the Thargoids? In our travels, we have encountered numerous people who say that the Thargoids attacked us because we possess weaponry capable of destroying them. Guardian tech, Aegis facilities....all powered by anti-xeno weapons of destruction. One such time I was evacuating civilians from a damaged station and my vessel was hyperdicted by 2 Thargoid Interceptors. They harmlessly scanned my ship and then proceeded to fly off back into hyperspace. I had zero guardian weaponry on me. Even our Federal Gunship, which is equipped only with ax multicannons was never attacked by scanning Interceptors. This seems highly odd for a race that people say are trying to wipe us out. I do my part by evacuating civilians from attacked stations, but my crew and I refrain from actively participating in hunting Thargoid ships. The mystery still remains as to why these stations are being attacked but never destroyed. Far God cultists worship these creatures as they see them as Gods that will whisk them away to Paradise. Seems far fetched to me. I have ordered my crew to refrain from all Thargoid hunts. We will continue to evac stations but will not pursue Thargoid ships until we uncover the truth behind their attacks. I believe our interview with Nova Imperium could shed some light on this matter.
