A Gruesome Discovery

After receiving secret coordinates from Nova Imperium, LCDR Rodriguez and I set out to the destination. I journey took us to Merope system. Merope is notoriously Thargoid territory, but also home to Aegis Research. Merope 1B was the body to which the coordinates led us to. Our surface scanner pinpointed a settlement called Lodestar Laboratory+. We landed on the outskirts as to not be detected by sentry skimmers and perimeter defenses. I left Rodriguez in control of the con while I boarded an SRV to sneak into the compound. 
As I approached the base, I was amazed at how heavily defended it was. Perimeter turrets, sentry skimmers, tower mounted turrets, and a tower spotlight all keeping an eye on the compound. My only chance was to knock out the generator powering all those defenses. With the generator in my sights, I began to run a hacking program. Systems offline! It won't be long before they realize this and attempt to rectify it. I located a data point to which I can download the files from their servers. As I breached their network, I was informed that systems would be restored in less than a minute. I got everything I needed from the servers, turned tail and floored it out of there. I radioed in to Rodriguez to start the engines and prepare for take-off. We needed to get outta dodge before we were caught. I wasn't in the mood to be shot out of the sky. I drove the SRV right up the ramp, closed it, and she slammed on the boost! We were able to get out unseen and unscathed. Our next step once we return to base was to analyze the data recovered from Lodestar.
