Well, it took a round trip of 10,000Ly, but Palin has nearly agreed to let me visit his base. He still wants a bunch of sensor fragments, so I'm not there yet, but I'm a lot closer than I was. So to speak, at least...The trip out was also fairly lucrative, bringing in nearly 60 million credits, and putting my name to a number of undiscovered worlds. On heading back, I dropped the Endeavour off in Atfero and took the Artemis out to HIP 98621. Ghost Legion Command have given us permission to get involved in the fighting taking place in the system and I wanted to test out the new flight controls when it came to combat.
Over the course of the day, I've been tweaking, calibrating and remapping the control systems. The stock settings were fairly rubbish, so it's taking time to get the controls into a place I'm happy with them. It doesn't help that the intrinsic software in the damn thing keeps trying to overwrite my modifications, but I've managed to find a way to trick it into thinking my commands are its defaults.
As long as that continues to work, my controls are holding.
I've also bought a new ship with the income I made from my trip out to the black. I've named the ship the SJCS Providence. It's a Python-class vessel, outfitted for deep-core mining, resource gathering and material collection. I took her out to an LTD hotspot I know and managed to gather 30 mil in just 20 minutes. I'll put some more time in with her later to really make the most of the mining trips, but need to clock off for the day.
