With the burst laser, beam lasers and rail guns all purchased and installed, it was time to begin the modifications. I knew full well that I wouldn't have all the materials I needed, but figured I'd begin anyway before being forced to go hunting for more. My first call was the Sirius system and Marco Qwent. On my flight in, I detected an Anaconda with another Pilot's Federation commander at the helm. Things can get dicey when some commanders decide to go a little rogue, and the Artemis was in no condition to fight - without the modifications, she could barely even deploy her weapons, let alone power them.Luckily, a customary salute was all that was needed. We bid each other a safe journey and continued on our way. After some discussions with Marco, it became apparent that his help wasn't required. Once the lasers were made efficient, the current modifications to the powerplant would be more than enough to keep Artemis shooting and all systems powered. I thanked him for his candor and headed off for Lei Chung. Once the thermal strengthening was completed, it was time for Broo. We tinkered with the lasers, getting one beam laser to G4 with the thermal venting, but I ran out of materials to complete the rest.
So, once again, I need to head out to the Jameson crash site. I made a few pitstops at a bunch of material traders on my way back to Atfero to pick up the SJCS Endeavour, trading out some of my G5s to make sure I had a nice spread for my raw and manufactured stockpile. After switching to the Endeavour, I wanted to get a little more range out of her. I removed the weapons, placing them in storage at Wales City. This got the Endeavour up to a 48Ly jump range. I made it to Ray Gateway in Diaguandri quickly, and traded out what I didn't need.
It had been a long day, so I decided to turn in for the night, as I wanted to hit the Jameson crash site fresh - it would be a lot of trips there and back to get all my materials as high as I needed them, better to do it after some R&R.
