Commander Adrella//SJCS Magellan//3307-08-04 - Synuefai QB-I B57-1 survey

After a lot of stop-starts, I've finally managed to start my expedition. After having a couple of practice runs in the Endeavour, I took the Magellan out of the bubble. I didn't quite complete my modifications, meaning my range is a little lower than I wanted at 61 Ly, but overall, that's not a bad jump range. My first proper stop was the Synuefai QB-I B57-1 system. Upon dropping into the system, a ran my scans and discovered 7 planetary bodies and 2 signal sources. The sources were degrading fast, so I headed to them first. At both, I discovered the wreckage of several vessels. I couldn't determine what had caused the wreckage, and scanning the logs of the ships didn't help. I gathered what I could to bring back to the bubble for those looking for these vessels, then turned to the planetary surveys.
- B57-1 1: Ice world, argon-rich atmosphere, nothing of interest
- B57-1 2: Rocky ice world, nitrogen atmosphere, nothing of interest
- B57-1 3: Rocky ice world, argon atmosphere, multiple distress beacons detected. Headed down to the surface and discovered some crashed Condor fighters and escape pods. Picked up the survivors
- B57-1 4: Ice World, neon atmosphere, nothing of interest
- B57-1 5: Rocky ice world, argon-rich atmosphere, wreckage of more Condor fighters found. Survivors in escape pods collected
- B57-1 6: Ice world, no atmosphere, wreckage and distress beacons found, survivors collected. During my descent, I misjudged my approach and hit the ground. While the shield absorbed some of the impact, I managed to damage the hull.
- B57-1 7: Ice World, no atmosphere, wreckage but nothing of interest
Having collected the survivors and data, I decided to head back to the bubble. My crash had caused significant hull damage, and I didn't want to head out with a crack in the hull. I figured it was a good learning experience to be more careful, especially with such a low-class shield system (which saves weight but offers less protection).
I plotted a course to the nearest station, Unity in the New Yembo system, and headed off. I dropped the survivors with the Search & Rescue crew, and then headed in while the techs looked over my hull. Once I've had a rest, I'll drop off the sensor data, restock and get ready to head off for the real expedition.
