Commander Adrella//SJCS Magellan//Vulpecula Dark Region NC-V C2-21 survey

10 Aug 2021Adrella
After completing my repairs and having a little shut-eye, I was eager to continue my surveys. My route back towards my 'true' starting point led me to a few new systems, so I figured I'd have a look. The C2-21 system is very spread out, with the two inner-most planets nearly 600Ls from the star, and the farthest over 5,500Ls away.

C2-21: K-type star
1: HMC, carbon dioxide atmosphere, nothing of interest
2: Ice, argon atmosphere, bacterial colonies and minor wreckage detected
3: Ice, argon atmosphere, three biological sources detected, bacterial, fonticulua and electricae
I haven't seen electricae before, so set down to check it out. There was also a distress beacon at the best location, so I headed down. Discovered a crashed ship with five skimmers protecting the area. I dispatched them and collected the four escape pods, then headed out for the genetic samples. First thing I found was emerald fonticulua campestris at 44.16 by 25.61, which grew all around the crash site. I then found the green electricae radialem. Getting genetic samples proved a complete ball-ache, as the trees have very little genetic diversity, meaning I had to drive in a radius of 2 km from the Magellan to find samples. I happened to come across some lime bacteria vesicula during my SRV drive, so figured I'd scan it. There seemed to be a concentration of it at 44.25 by -25.43.
4: Ice, nitrogen atmosphere, bacterial colonies, fonticulua and distress beacons detected
Discovered emerald fonticulua lapida at -23.81 by 82.47. The bacterial colonies proved difficult to locate. Picked up two escape pods. Fair warning to anyone following my footsteps - it's damn cold out here, so make sure you take an SRV with you instead of going on foot
5: Ice, neon atmosphere, detected expired distress beacons and wreckage, marked for recovery teams
A: Ice, methane atmosphere, detected more wreckage and expired beacons, marked for recover teams
6: Ice, no atmosphere, more beacons detected, marked for recovery teams
7: Ice, no atmosphere, detected wreckage and expired beacons, marked for recovery teams
8: Ice, neon atmosphere, more expired beacons and wreckage detected. Marked for recovery teams
A: Ice, no atmosphere, expired beacons and crash sites detected

The number of distress beacons I'm picking up is starting to get to me. In this system alone, I've picked up 6 functional escape pods and detected beacons for nearly two dozen more crash sites, so like 50-80 people who've died out here. That, and the two mishaps I've had so far are making me wonder whether this is a good idea. Still, people travel out to Sagittarius A* all the time, so surely it can't be too dangerous. I'll just need to be careful.
