CMDR Adrella//Mars High//3310-12-13 - Battle for Sol

13 Dec 2024Adrella
Alpha Centauri has been liberated, so now, the final hurdle is the liberation of Sol.

I'd be lying if I said I'm not excited by this prospect. But I'm also worried. What happens when the Titan Cocijo is defeated? What will the debris do to Earth, humanity's birthplace?

I guess we'll find out. I plotted a course for Sol, and was hyperdicted on the way in. I attempted to fight the Thargoid Interceptor, but it was slippery, and I couldn't even get a full scan on the damn thing. I disengaged when a second Interceptor showed up.

I managed to complete my jump into Sol, but as soon as I arrived, I was engaged by Scouts. I managed to dispatch them, but my previous battle damage was messing with my systems. When an Interceptor showed up, I had to bail. I headed for Daedalus, hoping for repairs, but the station was offline, only broadcasting a recorded message it had been evacuated.

Minutes after I'd reverted to real-space, Thargoids dropped in. I managed to stay hidden, masking my signature and playing dead. I looked at the system map, and the only operational port is Mars High, so I headed there.

I was interdicted another four times on my way to Mars High, but managed to get away. Once I arrived, I saw the battle was raging. I quickly managed to dock, rearm and repair, then get back into the fight.

Mars High had a bunch of other CMDRs there helping in its defence, like CMDR Joe Tarbouz. And a Vulture CMDR seemed to be helping the enemy, CMDR Albino Sanchez.

I fought long enough to run out of ammo, then had to rearm to head back into the fight. But Albino Sanchez, the traitor, attacked me while I was leaving Mars High. The Far God worshiper managed to cripple the Artemis, but luckily, Mars High engaged and destroyed him, and managed to repair my ship.

The fight around Mars High is like nothing I've experienced. It was utter chaos, with no respite. As soon as an attack wave was destroyed, another dropped in and engaged the station and its defenders. I was in a running battle for hours, having to periodically dock for repairs and resupply.

Eventually, I decided it was time to hit the Titan. I headed to Luyten's Star and kitted my ship out with AX missiles, a Guardian nanite torpedo and a beam laser. I also grabbed a Thargoid pulse wave neutraliser and an extra caustic sink launcher.

I made my way to the maelstrom over Earth, fending off interdictions on the way. I managed to make my way through the pulse waves, and started my attack. I overloaded the heat vents and engaged the core several times. That should secure my enhanced FSD SCO drives from Achillies Aerospace.

After a few attack runs, I decided to depart. I turned flight assist off, and started moving away. Unfortunately, I ran out of caustic sinks, so decided to get a boost. I let a pulse wave hit me, and with no flight assist, got thrown at 1,500 m/s out of the maelstrom.

I headed back to the rescue ship Hutner, refitted the Artemis with ship weaponry, and headed back to Mars High. The running battle was still raging, and I managed to secure a bunch of kills. But after a while, I had to rest. A new group of CMDRs took over the defence, giving the rest of us an opportunity to recharge for the next fight.

My final tally from the battle for Sol was 98 Scouts, 3 Glaives and 16 Interceptors.

Totals so far are 178 Scouts, 3 Glaives and 28 Interceptors.
