CMDR Adrella//Rescue Ship Hutner//3310-12-16 - What if we win?

It's been a long few days. The evacuations, the preparations, the fighting, the maelstrom diving, the bombing of a Titan...I haven't had much time to think up until this point. Until now. Until my break from the constant klaxons of Mars High and the sound of boots clattering down the hallways as techs and repair crews tell to be heard over the din of battle.
But the last 24 hours have given me that peace, that time to think. And all I keep coming back to is, 'what if we win?'
What happens? The destruction of the Titan will surely devastate Earth. I have no proof, but setting off a megaship-sized alien reactor must produce some side effect. It's only a few hundred kilometres above Earth's surface. The planet is bound to suffer from the explosion.
And then what? Will we doom our entire homeworld to a slow death? Are we just jumping out of the Thargoid-frying pan and into a catastrophic caustic fire?
I've been reading the logs of CMDR Rawnu, and they've got me thinking - is the destruction of the Titan the best answer? Rawnu suggested parking ourselves between Earth and Cocijo, to show it we want to protect our world. I sympathise with their reasoning, but I'm not sure that's the answer either. The Titan has proven its desire to hurt us. But an eye for an eye leaves the galaxy blind.
And then I started thinking, 'why are we being rewarded for this bat-out-of-hell drive to annihilate the Titan?'
Achilles Aerospace says it will reward any CMDR who participates with six hyper-engineered FSDs with SCO, one for each class, from 2 to 7. Are we being hounded to destroy the Titan for some other end?
There have been rumours of a new push into the void, to settle new colonies. Is this because the powers that be know there's going to be an insane diaspora into the stars?
And then my conspiracy theory mind wonders - was this Caleb Wycherley's entire plan? Could he still be alive somewhere, helping to fuel this crazy drive to reckless and wanton destruction of eight Titans?
Maybe this rest wasn't such a good idea. I have gone from being convinced on what needed to happen to questioning if I'll even go back to Sol. And the worst part is, there is no way to know if I'm right, or if we're all wrong, or what right even is.
So, instead, I guess I'll just do what I can. I might try engineer my new Cobra Mk V, the SJCS Apollo. That might take my mind off this dilemma, and let me come to a conclusion...
