CMDR Adrella//SJCS Apollo//3310-12-19 - Pretending life is back to normal

Well, I watched Cocijo fall. I sat in the maelstrom, just on the edge of the caustic cloud and the asteroid field the Titan pulled around with it for (I assume) defence and mineral supplies. Looking back on it, I should have brought a prospector limpet to inspect the asteroids...too late now, though.
I watched as hundreds of Interceptors left Cocijo, jumping into the void using their unknowable tech. The spiderweb patterns startled me at first, but I quickly learned that was their entry to witchspace.
The Titan lost containment at exactly 06:46:04. The electric discharge and taurus field was spectacular to witness. The magnetic pulse released threw the Apollo from the maelstrom. My systems suffered a few spikes, but recovered quickly.
Once I was clear of the cloud, I regained control and reoriented back to face the final death-throe of Cocijo. The explosion was immense, and the release of the caustic substance will no doubt have an effect on Earth. I recorded the event, and will process and upload my gun-cam footage in due time.
But it was done. The Titan was gone. I sat there a while, contemplating, wondering if we'd done the right thing. After a while, I realised it didn't matter. What had happened had happened. There was no going back now. We'd just have to live with the consequences.
I decided to try get life back to normal. I inspected a few elements of Sol I hadn't seen in a while, then headed off for Afli. Once there, I transferred all my ships and modules scattered across the bubble home.
I then decided to claim those wing mission rewards and figured I may as well try the Apollo out as a trader along the way. I removed a few bits, like the fuel scoop, and outfitted it with cargo space. I checked the destination station for each reward, and plugged the station data into Inara.
I figured out several profitable trades, bought what I needed and started to travel around as if everything was normal. It was quite soothing, just moving along, picking up rewards, selling and buying cargo.
It also goes to show, the Cobra Mk V makes an excellent small trading vessel:
- It's fast, so you can clear stations quickly (and pirates, if needed)
- The SCO drive is efficient, so moving 200,000ls isn't a problem on heat, fuel or flight control
- It has decent cargo space - I had 72 tonnes of capacity while still having a shield, module & hull reinforcements, weapons and an FSD booster
Upon completion of my trading mission, I might try outfitting Apollo for some core mining, just to see how she handles. And after that, I want to try a pure combat build.
