Trading with Thargoids

Today marks the beginning of my Human-Xeno Outreach program. Yes yes, I know the name is silly but it seemed fitting for my Orca, the ship I intended to begin this with. The Rigid Phallus, my Beluga, with the slightly larger cargo space has been substituted. The program, what is it?
Well, I am gathering Thargoid objects and delivering them to interceptors. I have noticed already that after a small number is collected a second interceptor will drop in and the first one leaves. I have not kept an accurate record of how many it takes and have yet to see if it continues in this fashion with a larger supply being dropped.
A second part of this also involves "rescuing" people in escape pods from nearby damaged megaships and delivering them to an interceptor. I have not determined if they do the same call/leave action.
Third, I intend to determine if rare commodities are of interest to the Thargoids, particularly Honesty Pills.
Eventually I will find out if the different interceptor classes react differently.
I have noted that a Cyclops is replaced by a Basilisk in at least 3 occasions. If this is a trend, I expect to see Basilisk replaced by Medusa then Hydra.
