So I decided to go take a look in HR 1737. Apparently there was something with Thargoids there. So I equipped a FAS hull tank, tried to decide what weapons to put on it, sail into HR 1737 (Well, in the Cat Tharsis that is, because there are no stations nearby where your 5LY jumprange shoebox can be delivered) and I found it empty.
I assume being able to jump 30 LY reduces the chance of being hyperdicted. It only happened to me when I was near another beachhead just hanging around in my axidewinder.
But once in system... nothing. And I'm not even on 3.8.
Guess it's all a bit exaggerated. News channels have to make news. That's how they earn money. So starting a good panic is modus operandi for the entire industry.
When I dropped near a station I had to wait for 5 minutes. Then some angry stapelia lepida dove on top of me, stunned me and then ate my ship.
I think the Cat is not the right tool for the job =).
Anyway, off to see if I get to shoot those small toadstools.
